Hm. While it's utterly tempting to hate on GS4, perhaps it's not so bad, when there are fics like this written because of it. I <3 tragic.
It's rather haunting. Even the reunion seems to have been tainted by all the sadness they've both been living with. I second the wibble.
Terrific last line.
